Trustwave SpiderLabs Security Advisory TWSL2015-006: Multiple Vulnerabilities in QlikView Vendor: Qlik (www.qlik.com) Product: QlikView Version affected: 11.20 Service Release 10 and prior Product description: QlikView is a powerful web based reporting application. Finding 1: Persistent Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) Credit: Tom Neaves of Trustwave A Persistent Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability was identified within the add button action functionality which normally should open a target URL. However, it is possible to inject arbitrary JavaScript into the "text" field in a persistent manner which when clicked by a user results in the JavaScript being executed. Location: https://vulnerableapplication/QvAjaxZfc/QvsViewClient.aspx?mark=XXX&host=XXX&view=XXX.qvw&slot=&platform=XXX&dpi=XXX&xrfkey=XXX Method: HTTP POST Affected Parameter: text Example POST data: Resulting HTML: When a user clicks on a button: Finding 2: Arbitrary Redirection Credit: Maciej Grela of Trustwave The application logout page was found to permit user defined values to be sent to it. The URL supplied in the "login" parameter is stored into window.location resulting in a redirect to an attacker controlled page. Location: https://vulnerableapplication/qlikview/logout.htm Method: HTTP GET Affected Parameter: login Example: https://vulnerableapplication/qlikview/logout.htm?login=http:%2F%2Fwww.trustwave.com Affected Function: redirectMe Finding 3: DOM-based Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) Credit: Maciej Grela of Trustwave It is possible to inject arbitrary JavaScript into the "login" parameter sent to the logout page. The JavaScript is then included in the vulnerable function "redirectMe". Location: https://vulnerableapplication/qlikview/logout.htm Method: HTTP GET Affected Parameter: login Example: https://vulnerableapplication/qlikview/logout.htm?login=data:text%2Fhtml;base64,PGh0bWw+PGhlYWQ+PHNjcmlwdD5hbGVydCgxKTwvc2NyaXB0Pg== ("" is base64 encoded) Affected Function: redirectMe Finding 4: Authentication Bypass on Exported Documents Credit: Tom Neaves of Trustwave It is possible to access previously exported documents without supplying a valid "AccessPointSession" session cookie. Example: https://vulnerableapplication/QvAjaxZfc/QvsViewClient.aspx?public=XXX&size=XXX&host=XXX&name=Temp/XXX.csv (where XXX.csv is the temporary filename) Remediation Steps: Upgrade to 11.20 Service Release 11 or the latest stable version of QlikView. Please note that Trustwave SpiderLabs have not verified this fix.
