Finding 1: Lack of protections on the trace shared memory region Credit: Martin Rakhmanov of Trustwave CVE: CVE-2020-4414 The shared memory object (section) is used to communicate trace status and details between Db2 processes. By default no permissions have been assigned for this object. This means any local user can manipulate Db2 trace by reading and writing to the object. The section name for default installation path is: \BaseNamedObjects\DB2SHMTRACEM_C:/PROGRAM FILES/IBM/SQLLIB/BIN This allows any local user manipulate Db2 Trace to obtain sensitive information and/or cause a denial of service. Remediation Steps: Apply the appropriate fixpack level for the affected level. Special builds are available for 9.7 FP11, 10.1 FP6, 10.5 FP1, 11.1 FP5.
